The Classification Societies appear in the middles of XVII Century, due to the needed of the Ship Owners, Ship Builders, Governments and Insurances Companies after the quickly development of the Maritime and Navigation Industry.

The Classification Societies are specializated organizations with the only objective of certify and verify the different aspects during the construction of a ship. This mission is carried out through the Classification Rules that are a resume of different regulations that are periodically reviewed and updated.

The mission of the Classification Societies has 4 stages as follows:

Verification of the Ship’s global design.

Certification of the quality of the materials and equipment used in the Ship Building.

Supervision during Construction Supervision during the work life of the Ship “Royal Bureau of Shipping” (RB Class) is a Classification Society registered in Ukraine, established in 2011. Its world technical head office is based in Odessa, Ukraine.

Classification activity consists, principally, in the development and issue of the classification Rules.

The Rules, taking into account the applicable provisions of international conventions, specify technical requirements which ensure:

The ship’s strength and, where necessary, the watertight integrity of all elements of the ship’s hull and its superstructures, adequate level of safety and reliability of the propulsion and auxiliary machinery essential to ensure that the ship is fit for its intended service. Furthermore, by performing classification survey of different types of floating units under construction and/or in service, RB Class verifies the implementation of the Rules requirements. BR Class conducts also classification survey of refrigerating plants under construction or in service, after installation on board. A ship built according to the Rules is assigned RB class, which is entered in the Register Book and the ship’s classification documents. “Classification Regulations”, which are part of the Rules, determine the scope and system of surveys of ships in service, carried out by RB Surveyors in order to ascertain the ship’s compliance with the requirements of the Rules.

We pledge to monitor our performance as an on-going activity and to strive for continuous improvement.
